After three intense games, UCLA League of Legends Junior Varsity emerged victorious against Washington State University on Wednesday. The Bruins currently hold a record of 2-0 in the

the PACG tournament.

UCLA’s team composition in game one consisted of Camille, Sejuani, Galio, Xayah, and Braum. Washington State University drafted Vladimir, Zac, Orianna, Vayne, and Alistar.

The Bruins built up a substantial gold lead in the early stages of the game by taking down many towers across the map and by winning small skirmishes with Benjamin “THICC Daddy Flex” Luu’s incredible Braum ultimates. Though this advantage failed to help UCLA win a teamfight in the mid-game, and the Bruins’ lack of coordination gave WSU the opening to secure Baron.

WSU’s team composition was more powerful than UCLA’s by this point in the game because of Vladimir and Vayne’s late-game power, which carried WSU’s multiple teamfight wins. WSU was also able to secure another Baron and an Elder Drake due to the strength of this team composition.

Despite their strength, WSU was too ambitious when they tried to dive UCLA at their top lane inhibitor. The dive gave Junwei “OmaeWaMoShinderu” He the opportunity to score a triple kill on WSU while Nathan “Rebel Riven” took down their inhibitors.

Both teams then contested Baron in an extended fight while minions flooded the base of Washington State University through the side lanes. The intense fight distracted WSU from protecting their base which allowed the super minion waves to destroy Washington’s nexus at 53 minutes.

In game two, WSU drafted Malphite, Jarvan IV, Viktor, Xayah, and Janna. UCLA’s team composition featured Urgot, Sejuani, Taliyah, Varus, and Rakan.

In the early game, WSU’s mid laner, “FilthyHippy”, became enormously fed as Viktor because of a level two gank from his jungler. He scored four kills before the twenty minute mark while maintaining an impressive farm lead. UCLA grouped together and picked off members of WSU to stay even throughout the mid-game, but fell behind after being aced at Baron due to Viktor’s raw damage.

As WSU pushed down the mid lane, UCLA was forced to retaliate in order to defend their base. Despite an impressive Glacial Prison from Charlie “cdp98us” Pitteway onto WSU’s Viktor, UCLA failed to take him down. WSU proceeded to annihilate UCLA in the ensuing fight and then destroyed their nexus at 40 minutes.

UCLA’s team composition in game three consisted of Camille, Sejuani, Corki, Vayne, and Tahm Kench. Washington State University drafted Malphite, Jarvan IV, Ahri, Kog’maw, and Janna.

WSU attempted to ambush UCLA’s bot lane in the tri-brush after leashing their jungler, but their plan backfired. The Bruins took control of the lane after killing WSU’s Janna with Zachary “Kizuku” Zhao’s perfectly timed stun.

Patrick “Bachit” Le’s Corki became a terror for WSU by scoring several early kills. His excellent roams and teamfight positioning enabled UCLA to maintain their gold lead throughout the mid-game.

UCLA’s double AD carry composition allowed them to quickly take Baron. As they regrouped, the Bruins caught out WSU’s Jarvan IV and began to tear through the rest of the enemy team. After defeating WSU without losing any of their own members, UCLA ended the game at 38 minutes.

The Bruins hope to maintain their perfect record in their next PACG match against Arizona State University on March 14th.
