Relatively new to the scene, UCLA Hearthstone formed as a semi-casual team in 2014 when the first collegiate tournaments for Hearthstone were established. Featuring mostly one-on-one and individual performances the seasonal TESPA tournaments marked a shift with their three man team tournaments.

With the arrival of sophomore Shawn "Triton" Footitt in 2016, UCLA Hearthstone received an instant upgrade to consistency, as well as performance. Having topped the North American Legend rankings in the middle of numerous seasons, Footitt rallied together Samuel "Toska" Wu and Sennen "kinix" Sulaiman, to play together in the most recent season of the TESPA Hearthstone Season.
Although UCLA failed to qualify for playoffs with a 4-3 team record, the Hearthstone teams at UCLA continue to perform admirably led by a focused and dedicated Shawn Footitt. UCLA Hearthstone, however, lost Wu to graduation for the 2017-2018 year.

Footitt has also been active in the TESPA summer series, where he has won the second TESPA Summer Series Qualifier. He will represent UCLA in the upcoming Red Bull Team Brawl on August 12th.
