UCLA JV Rely on Stars He and March, Take Down University of Arizona

After a flawless record in the Collegiate Starleague tournament, UCLA League of Legends Junior Varsity emerged victorious against University of Arizona on Monday in their first PACG tournament match.
The Bruins’ team composition in game one consisted of Sion, Skarner, Ahri, Tristana, and Taric while University of Arizona drafted Illaoi, Jarvan IV, Azir, Varus, and Lulu.
Game one was a bloodbath, with a total of 17 kills by the 20 minute mark between the two teams. UCLA managed to match Arizona’s gold early in the game but lost control after a messy teamfight in their blue-side jungle. Arizona then aced UCLA due to Varus and Illaoi’s teamfight strength and gained a 10k gold lead.
Arizona was able to secure Baron with their gold lead and pushed into UCLA’s base. The Bruins tried to defend their inhibitors by attacking Arizona’s Azir, but they were ultimately warded off by his Emperor’s Divide. Arizona’s Azir, Varus, and Illaoi then demolished UCLA and ended the first game at 27 minutes.
In game two, UCLA drafted Urgot, Sejuani, Ryze, Tristana, and Braum. Arizona’s team composition was Gnar, Skarner, Cassiopeia, Varus, and Lulu.
Nathan “Rebel Riven” March enabled UCLA to make a comeback in game two as he stomped his lane and assisted his teammates by roaming. His early lead let the Bruins catch up from their gold deficit and scale into the late game.
Junwei “OmaeWaMoShinderu” He’s Tristana play in the late-game allowed UCLA to consistently win teamfights and secure Baron and Elder Drake. The Bruins defeated Arizona in a final teamfight, ending the game at 39 minutes.
UCLA’s team composition in the third game consisted of Sion, Jax, Corki, Tristana, and Taric. University of Arizona drafted Jayce, Jarvan IV, Galio, Varus, and Alistar.
UCLA struggled once again early in game three. University of Arizona’s Galio was able to roam using Hero’s Entrance and create a numbers advantage in several skirmishes. UCLA responded to Galio’s roams by taking down turrets on the other side of the map.
The Bruins took back control of the game from Arizona after winning a fight in the mid lane. He’s Tristana became a huge threat to Arizona due to his insane damage, and UCLA was able to secure Baron uncontested.
With 10 kills and 0 deaths on Tristana, UCLA pushed down the bot lane into Arizona’s base. The Bruins proceeded to kill members of Arizona one by one and destroy their nexus at the 31 minute mark.
University of Arizona made UCLA JV fight hard for this win because they managed to take a game from the Bruins in this series. UCLA did not drop any games in their previous matches.
Their next game will be against Washington State University on March 7th.
UCLA Premiere was also victorious in their match against University of Advancing Technology. The Bruins have finished their run in the Riot’s Collegiate Championship with a match score of 4-2. While their final match score makes them ineligible for playoffs, UCLA Premiere will participate in the upcoming Teemo Cup Tournament.
