UCLA League of Legends Premiere has announced that jungler Mac “BlackChutney” Chandrahasan will be stepping down from his starting position on the roster. Replacing Chandrahasan in the jungle will be Eddie “Fake Dragon” Honig, who previously served as a sub for UCLA Premiere in 2015.
Honig has kept a positive outlook for the team’s upcoming games despite joining halfway through phase one of Riot’s Collegiate Championship. He said, “competitive isn't too different from playing with friends until you get to a really high level”. Along with his role on UCLA Premiere in 2015, Honig participated in multiple online tournaments and played in a showmatch against USC.
Team captain Austin “BestLucianAfrica” Quon felt that Honig was “a great fit to [the] team, and the change doesn't even feel like a huge change, as [Chandrahasan and Honig] both have the same play style.” Additionally, teammate Curtis “XcOuNtEr sTr1kE” Xuan said that recent scrims with Honig on the team have gone exceptionally well.
Honig and the new UCLA roster will debut against Cal Poly Pomona on Feb 10 at 3 PM.
