Hearthstone Blue Wins Western Regional Playoffs and Qualifies for Live Semifinals

UCLA Hearthstone Blue came out victorious in the Tespa playoffs after playing against Boise State University, University of Washington, and University of Utah in the single elimination Phase 3 of the Tespa Training Grounds tournament. Hearthstone blue is now the number one team in the Western Region!
In the first set of phase 3, UCLA Blue played against Boise State University’s Brawling Broncos. The set was tight as both teams played well enough to take it to game five. Ultimately, UCLA won game five after playing their Rogue, Priest and Druid decks and took the set victory with a 3-2 lead.
UCLA’s second set against University of Washington’s Saronite Chain Gang was featured on the PlayHearthstone stream (be sure to check out the VoD beginning at 3:16:33). After getting their Rogue deck banned, UCLA went into the match with their Druid, Priest, and Paladin decks. UCLA then secured a clean win against University of Washington with a final score of 3-0.
Finally, in the quarter finals of the tournament, UCLA claimed another 3-0 against University of Utah (Check out the VoD beginning at 5:38:25). In all three rounds, University of Utah tried to claim victory with their Rogue deck, but were ultimately unsuccessful against UCLA’s Druid, Priest, and Paladin decks.
Congratulations to UCLA Blue players Shawn “Triton” Footitt, Riley “Dovahcain” Dunne, and Sennan “kinix” Sulaiman for representing UCLA and for becoming the Western Regional champs in this Tespa season’s tournament.
