Legend player and UCLA Hearthstone team captain Shawn "Triton" Footitt has qualified for the 2017 TESPA and Red Bull partnered Hearthstone Team Brawl.

Triton reached legend for the first time in 2015, having started playing after the Naxxramus expansion was released in 2014. Since then he has been a common name in the legend rankings, oftentimes leading the meta due to his extensive experimentation and deck crafting.

Footitt began his career in UCLA Hearthstone in his freshman year, competing in both Collegiate Starleague and TESPA. His team would qualify for playoffs in both leagues, but fail to advance far. His biggest accomplishments, however, have come whilst competing in solo tournaments. Qualifying for the Hearthstone Wild Open in 2017, Footitt went undefeated in match score, reaching the round of 16 from a pool of 64 players before finally being eliminated. He quickly followed up his success by reaching the quarterfinals of TESPA's Hearthstone Summer Series Qualifiers #1, posting a 6-2 match score before being eliminated 2-0 by eventual winner Fwan and his freeze Mage deck.

With 3 more chances to qualify for the Red Bull Hearthstone Brawl, Footitt didn't waste any time. Playing a totem Shaman deck that he constructed with his training partner, he would go 5-2 in match score with an overall set record of 11-4 in the Summer Series Qualifiers #2. He would then 2-0 his opponent in the quarterfinals before besting seohyun628 and his Druid deck in a tight 2-1 series to qualify.

With the victory, Triton joins 7 of the best collegiate Hearthstone players in the nation for a weekend all-expenses-paid tournament in Santa Monica, California. The tournament operates in a team setting, where teams of 3 work together to build 3 decks from a limited selection of cards. In previous iterations, the Brawl invited professional teams, featuring Cloud 9, Team Archon, Tempo Storm and Team Liquid in the 2016 competition. This year, collegiate players have been offered spots on professional teams for a weekend, with a lineup featuring Reynad, StrifeCro, TrumpSC, Hafu and others teaming up in August of 2017. While further details have yet to be announced, Esports at UCLA will update the articles as more information becomes available. We wish Shawn "Triton" Footitt the best of luck in August as he competes with some of the best Hearthstone players in the world.

You will be able to watch the action on the Red Bull Esports Twitch channel. More information to come!
